Let Black Seed and Turmeric boost your immunity

In the midst of this global pandemic caused by the newly disease termed Coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19)– caused by the novel RNA coronavirus dubbed SARS-Cov2 (Severe adult respiratory syndrome-coronavirus type 2) we’ve learned quite a lot due to the breadth of cases.  At the time of this writing over 20m people have been afflicted with it globally, so how does this affect the body? Being a novel disease, information about this disease is being updated nearly daily. At this time it is now established that COVID-19 is more of a clinical syndrome which means it affects various organ systems in the body and can manifest in different ways.

To try and simplify things I’m going to list the various organ systems in the body and how they’re affected:

After one is infected with the SARS-Cov2 it multiplies in the body (initially in the nose and upper airways) and after a certain period some patients become symptomatic either with runny nose, sore throat, fevers, muscle aches etc. while some patients are completely asymptomatic. This disease then progresses to affect the following organs:

Lungs-this was the major initially described presentation in China and early in the pandemic. SARS-CoV-2 can multiply in the lungs resulting in a pneumonia or cause severe inflammation as seen in adult respiratory distress syndrome.

Cardiovascular system-inflammation of the heart muscle and lining (myocarditis and pericarditis respectively) and blood vessels (vasculitis/Kawasaki syndrome in children)

Nervous system-brain inflammation (encephalitis), strokes

Musculoskeletal system-inflammation of the joints (arthritis) and muscles (myositis)

Gastrointestinal system-inflammation of the liver (hepatitis), gut (colitis)

Blood system-increased blood clotting causing blood clots in the limbs, lungs and brain

A common thread here is inflammation of various organ systems. So based on this brief primer of the disease process here’s how blackseed and turmeric could help someone suffering from COVID-19.

Viral infection-Blackseed has known antiviral properties it’s been proven effective against other RNA viruses namely Hepatitis C. In an Egyptian Randomized controlled trial (RCT), blackseed reduced viral load in Hep C patients by 60% and even more when combined with Ginger. Blackseed is also a powerful anti-inflammatory.

Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory and when combined with blackseed reduced inflammation (as measured by C-reactive protein) by 32% in patients with rheumatoid arthritis in the TKS-METS study. Tumeric has also been shown to stimulate important T-cells required to produce antibodies (chemicals) against viruses and also modulates the Interleukin system. Uncontrolled Interleukin release contributes to the lethal Cytokine Storm.

As of today, Dexamethasone a steroid that reduces inflammation has been found to reduce death rates in patient with severe covid19 according to results from the UK’s RECOVERY trial. Turmeric blocks various and similar pathways of the inflammation cycle and if combined with the anti-inflammatory and viral properties of Blackseed could provide significant support to an individual combating COVID19.

Our formula of 1000 mg  blackseed and 500 mg  turmeric per serving  in Bioactive Synergy Formula is primed to support the immune system and dampen inflammation necessary for supporting one’s fight against COVID-19.

Disclaimer: There is no known cure for COVID-19. This is informational advice, discuss all treatment options with your healthcare provider
